What I didn’t like: (mild spoilers ahead)

I kept waiting the entire book for Nick and Jesse’s attacker to face off, and I was really surprised but happy with how it was handled.

This made for an interesting development of their relationship from opposite sides of a literal line on the floor.

Interesting dynamic between Jesse and Nick- Jesse stayed away from Nick in the beginning because he thought Nick was straight (and was afraid he could be homophobic like his last roommate), and Nick stayed away from Jesse because he was very conscious of Jesse’s boundaries after his assault.

He was very respectful and understanding of Jesse’s boundaries.

Nick’s multi-layered character- The author could have easily written Nick as a stereotypical macho asshole, he was surprisingly sweet and vulnerable.

Boundaries established.īut as innocent movie nights become hours-long temptation marathons, and whispered chats from across the room delve into straight-up dirty territory, crossing the line has never been so satisfying.
